Meet Your Host
KENNEDY
Born September 8,
1972, Lisa Kennedy Montgomery is a former MTV VJ. Once voted both "Most Hated
MTV VJ" and "Favorite MTV VJ" (in separate contests) at almost the exact same
time, Kennedy has taken much criticism for being a conservative Republican,
though she also says that in some areas she has a strong libertarian streak.
She was a VJ for five years until '97, when she decided it was time to
move on. She settled in with her boyfriend, Dave Lee, and married him in May
2000. She and Dave relocated outside L.A. shortly thereafter, and she began
studying philosophy at Santa Monica College.
The host of "Friend or Foe?" has recently been named as host of the upcoming Game Show Network mini-series, called "Who Wants to Be Governor of California? The Debating Game."
While many people
think "Friend or Foe?" a game that justifies deception and glamorizes greed,
Kennedy doesn't quite agree. She says, "There are people who devour weaker
people. It's scary because they put on this face like, 'You can really trust me.
I swear I will do you no wrong.' And then out of nowhere, they just bite the
head off the little bunny rabbit standing across from them.'"
The game is based on the mind game 'Prisoner's Dilemma.' The two members of each
team secretly vote on whether they want to split their earnings with the other
person, or keep it all for themselves. If one person votes to split the money
("Friend") and the other votes to take it all ("Foe"), the Foe takes all the
money. If both select Friend, the money is divided evenly. If both select Foe,
neither person receives any money.
Kennedy uses this point to try to prove that, while one is taking a chance
either way, it is safer to take a chance on trust than greed, because while
greed can potentially increase one person's payout, it can just as easily leave
both players broke.
