Grapple With the Apple

This computer user, he can press One,

That first button hasn’t come undone.

(The Nine key, with warranty—a keyboard restored.)

With a knick-knack, click-clack, key off-track,

Give the Mac a Nine,

Eight plus one, at least while IX remains undone.

This computer user, he can press Two,

That second button has not gone askew.

(The Nine of the board—one digit’s decline, yet the rest in accord.)

With a knick-knack, click-clack, key off-track,

Give the Mac a Nine,

Seven plus two, at least while the ninth is bid adieu.

This computer user, he can press Three,

That third button works, the maker’s guarantee.

(The Nine, misaligned—but other keys work, I thee remind.)

With a knick-knack, click-clack, key off-track,

Give the Mac a Nine,

Six plus three, those keys shall not plague thee.

This computer user, he can press Four,

That fourth button won’t drop to the floor.

(The Nine on the keyboard fell to the seaboard.)

With a knick-knack, click-clack, key off-track,

Give the Mac a Nine,

Five plus four, does the job when the ninth’s no more.

This computer user, he can press Five,

That fifth button still survives.

(Cheap the Nine key, we must agree, but failing keyboards, hard to afford!)

With a knick-knack, click-clack, key off-track,

Give the Mac a Nine,

Four plus five, that adds up if the Nine takes a nosedive.

This computer user, he can press Six,

That sixth button isn’t so easily transfixed.

(The Nine, resign! The board, all else works; “Thank the Lord.”)

With a knick-knack, click-clack, key off-track,

Give the Mac a Nine,

Three plus six, if Nine sinks like a ton of bricks!

This computer user, he can press Seven,

That seventh button, a trying rhyme, but it works, thank heaven.

(The key of Nine, a sour chord; the other keys, divine, spare the sword.)

With a knick-knack, click-clack, key off-track,

Give the Mac a Nine,

Two plus seven—well, it's a step above “twenty minus eleven.”

This computer user, he can press Eight,

That eighth button, not accused of failing; and thus will not recriminate.

(The Nine, no good, we’re resigned; but save the board, don’t cut the cord.)

With a knick-knack, click-clack, key off-track,

Give the Mac a Nine,

Eight plus one, gets to nine and won’t come undone.

This computer user, he can’t press Nine,

That ninth button, will not work, just says “NEIN!”

(This is Nine! Throw overboard! The other keys are fine—spare the board!)

With a knick-knack, click-clack, key off-track,

Give the Mac a Nine,

Nine plus none—replace the former, and the trouble’s done.
