Because they
donate to Lyric, George and his father sometimes receive invitations to various
special events at Lyric, including a luncheon or evening reception with the cast
of one of the shows. One such "Donor Appreciation Event" luncheon was held on Feb. 26, 1998. George
took the opportunity to get
signatures from various members of both the cast (of Roméo et Juliette)
and the orchestra.

George, who was enrolled in a photography class at the time, asked popular
mezzo-soprano Dorothy Byrne if he could take a photo of her. She gladly agreed.
George developed the negatives himself, and made the photo into a
black-and-white vignette.
